Does anyone know if there exists a version of Canvas, or an add-on module, that facilitates automatic footnotes like you'd find in MS Word or most other word processing programs?

I'm taking an online history class, so we use CMS for citations. Canvas as used in the class doesn't support footnotes. I've been spoiled by the footnoting features in Word, but having to do them manually is extremely annoying.

I'm wondering if such a feature exists, and it's something the school didn't feel like paying for, or if putting "get the Canvas feature/version that does CMS footnotes" would be a waste of electrons.
