Is it worth getting the higher level rheem? Or just the basic one?

I saw one with self cleaning - worth it?

Rheem has a pain in the ass glass vial overtemp failsafe built in that completely bricks your system when it activates, and requires a service visit to install a new one. Had a brand new unit last year do that to us. It was warranties, but no hot water for a week while we fought with scheduling service.

I have personally never bought the higher end. Have been seeing about 7-10 years before the tanks start leaking on the 6 year warranty tanks. They just don't make heaters like they used to anymore.
