Don't worry about your MCAT another iota. You've done enough to get in, and you'll be just as dumb as the next guy on the day you matriculate. You'll never again be asked your scores (unless there's another episode of chest-thumping on TexAgs).
quote:
loans can always be paid back quickly
As Lee Corso would say, "Not so fast, my friend." Although the cost of higher education is climbing in Texas, it is still far more affordable than just about anywhere else in the USA. Don't place yourself in a situation to pay more for medical school than you should and then feel committed to chosing a specialty based on pay expectations and the assumed ability to pay loans off quickly.
Medicine is a long, hard journey and you're at the very front of it. Go into medical school with an open mind and a compassionate heart, wait until LATE in your third year to commit to a specialty, and only then make sure it's something you think you're going to love. Don't choose anything based on money...possibly, we'll all be working for the federal government someday for peanuts. (Hell, we already predominantly are, thanks to Medicaid and Medicare!)
