According to a Baylor fan:

quote:
Aggies were invited by 10-2 vote with LSU and Vandy voting against. Vandy wants us, and we were specifically mentioned, because they want another private school. Very interesting. Aggies have not yet made a decision if they are accepting the bid. Honestly think the 17 mil per year is going to be tough to walk away from by staying right home. In either event, I have to give it to the gig em boys. They played it right, and are making UT look like a bunch of idiots. Stay tuned.

Well, Vandy doesn't really count for much in the grand scheme. LSU is not happy about us being able to compete for Louisiana talent. Makes sense.

Vandy jives with what I've heard, but I've also heard that Arkansas, LSU, Alabama, Auburn and Florida were all pulling hard for us.

Does that make sense? Seems like LSU would relish the idea of gaining back an old rivalry, especially one they stand a good chance of winning for the next couple years. Plus, as the SEC school closest to Houston, they stand to gain a lot from increased SEC recruiting pull in Texas.

I call this BS because I think LSU of all schools would want us in.

I heard they wanted South Dakota State, not Baylor.

and LSU sees the writing on the wall. No more selling Texas kids to come play in Louisiana so they can be a part of the SEC when they can stay in a much better state, Texas and do the same.

I'm an LSU fan, I can tell you that there are thousands of LSU fans that would love to have you with us in the SEC. If the school itself voted no, it may have something to do with recruiting. Looks like you will be with us in the SEC. Welcome aboard guys. I can't wait to make a trip to Kyle Field for a game.

We're probably insisting LSU pay our $50 entry fee since they stiffed us on the last football contract.

LSU has the most to lose.

LSU voting it down doesn't make sense.

They would push for a Houston game.

explain to me why the hell Vandy would care about adding another private school?

of course Arkansas was pulling hard, we told Texas to piss off 20 years ago, it's time you all did as well.

I haven't seen anything in the last day or two but there have been reports that LSU has lobbied for us throughout this process. I think us going to the SEC will greatly help our recruiting but I think LSU will get a small bump from it too.

That's exactly right... Most LSU fans are for A&M to SEC but it could be really bad for recruiting... Usually we can dip in and steal a few high profile recruits From Texas because they want to play in the SEC, may not be able to do that anymore. I still think we'll keep Louisiana locked down, but with Les miles there is no telling what could happen (and I actually like the guy)...We wont have to worry about him after this year though if he doest win 10 games!

Vandy wants another private school so they can actually win a conference game.

LSU vs. A&M in Houston has ZERO CHANCE of happening until our neutral site game with the hogs expires in 9 years. No way in hell we give up that home game opportunity against LSU.

Well, now that I rethink it, if the price is right...who knows...

But are there any other teams that play multiple neutral site games in a season?

This is totally legit. There's no way anybody but a Baylor message board is going to break this story.

You've not been to many SEC road games have you?

You know how Walton hall treats Lechner hall thats how the rest of the SEC treats Vandy.

I don't buy it. I know in the big 10(11+1) and PAC 340,861 you need unanimous consent to approve a new member. Also highly doubt Vandy would want their slice of the pie diluted by baylor unless they wanted someone to finish below them in the standings...

If I remember correctly, LSU was your biggest ally for SEC expansion in the 90's. We were the school that was going to sponsor you into the conference then. LSU was your biggest supporter on the 90's expansion if my memory is correct.

Amazing how many of you are taking what someone on a BU internet board are taking for gospel.

Also read where Vandy wanted bu. Not going to happen but it's a nice thought.
After getting blown off by the Pac-10 and their tsip pals, bu gets an invite to a much better conference, the SEC.

It's not the size of the dog in the fight, but the size of the fight in the dog!

I agree with AughtThree about LSU. Could it be that Vandy doesn't want another AAU school?

Maybe their only recruiting draw was we are an AAU school, other than FL, in the SEC?

Read the College Expansion board over at Tigerdroppings. LSU fans are overwhelmingly in favor of your inclusion into the SEC. LSU and Arkansas are your biggest supporters.

If we get to go to the SEC I prefer that we not have any more neutral site games. I would love to play LSU at home. Thats what is great about the SEC is the game atmosphere at other venues.
