As bad as it may seem, I still support the team AND the coaching staff. At the end of the seasons changes may be made, but I will stick with this team AND this coaching staff just like I did back in 1996, 2002, 2003, 2005!

For far too long, Aggie Football has rewarded me with a vast range of emotions from Anger to Ecstacy and I don't plan on giving up on this group of players, not now, not EVER! At the end of this year, Byrne will look back and make his decision but until now I will also support this coaching staff!

No wearing black, No booing, No negative comments towards the players at Kyle Field!

I hope there are other Aggies out there that do the same. Save your pot-banging for the end of the season.

And if you're not man enough to say what you write on Texags directly to someone's face, then don't bother posting!

1. When you attack the coaching staff you also, unfortunately, attack the players (trust me on this one).

2. I have no problems with the above statement on asking him to resign, but that's Bill Byrne's job and he should do what's best for A&M football at the end of this season. Until then I will support the players AND the coaching staff.

In my opinion, its hard to seperate the two. Fran won't be fired until the end of the season(if that). This will be the senior's last year playing football for A&M. So banging the pot, booing, or just being unsupportive to the football program is what these seniors will hold as their final memories in Aggieland.

Support 'em all! Make changes in the offseason if need be.

Agreed 97. Potbangers want to throw out the baby with the bath water after the 4th game of the season when there are 8 games left. Let's just see how the season shakes out.

I would like the coaches to earn their keep. Mediocrity is not an asset. They would have been fired two years ago for poor job performance at my company.

I'm not one of these people who thinks a coach has to be a genius to win. As a matter of fact, the smarter the coach is, the more stubborn he tends to be (that his way will work no matter what). Just look at Mike Leach. Offensive genius....Overall Head Coach...not so much. I'm also not a big proponent of "trust the coaches, they know what they are doing". Obviously, ours don't. It is a game and it is far from rocket science. Our HC seems to over think the game or outsmart himself. It's football. It's not as hard as he is making it out to be.

If you are going to make over $2 million a year to coach a game, be prepared to take some criticism when your team under performs/achieves. So far, it looks like last year was an anomaly.

Roboag; the season will be from 6-6 to 8-4. Book it. And ya know what?

To me, it is a pretty self-righteous stance that could lead to regrets if later proved wrong.

I'll just support the players like hell at all times and let Bill sort out the coaching situation at the end of the season. Not Fran, not anything could touch my unwaivering support of this and all A&M teams.

Im probably giving you a harder time that you deserve most likely, but I just want to get the point across. Things are bad. Everybody needs to know that, accept that, and know that there needs to be a change. I don't have the faith in leaders like you do to...do the right thing. Hell Bryne would probably want this whole thing to go away and if we let him...it will.

I will continue to call for the coaches head, and if it hurts the players...Im sorry, but something has to be done.

No. The logical conclusion would be "if you don't want to attack the players, don't attack the coaching staff."

Unless our players are calling the shots I think I can safely criticize the coaches without hurting the players' feelings. If _arnell is telling our guys to keep everything 10 yards ahead of them, I blame our DC and not our players for allowing first down after first down and so on.

Amen to all of that 97! There are a whole lot more like us out there. Don't let the vocal minority get to you. Keep the faith.

I do support the coach's and players. As long as which ever coach is here I will support, but at the same time Im not stupid to this situation and I know we have a problem.

If Fran and his staff have ever had a wakeup call they sure as hell better have one here, because in the past you could make the excuse of still in transition from Slocum players mixed in with Frans players and so on.

There are no more excuses and Fran better realize that his system is not working and if he still believes in his system he better start getting it right because its not going to matter if he believes in it or not, when he wakes up one morning and finds himself without a job. Because if he gets fired from A&M, good luck to him on finding another big time program to coach at.

I don't recall anybody calling out the players and in fact we fully support the players because they are Aggies and will always be Aggies. Coach Fran is not an Aggie he is an employee of the university. You cannot fire an Aggie but you can fire an employee.

Again I just don't see the connection between saying a coach has to go and saying a player has to go but maybe I am wrong. It certainly wouldn't be the first time that has happened just ask my wife.

Players will almost always rally around their coach just like you would rally around your family, that's human nature

I wouldn't expect the players to throw Fran under the bus but I will give them the benefit of the doubt that they can tell the difference between people being mad at the head coach and people being mad at them.

I support the team and ANY coach we hire that can coach.... and we need one bad.

As long as people keep their criticism of the coaching staff out of Kyle Field and don't get personal, I think that's all you can ask.

If Texas A&M Dropped to a Third Tier University in US News' annual rakings because of disarray in one or more colleges on campus I wouldn't worry one bit about being critical of the President of the University and the Deans of the Colleges involved - I'd call for their ouster 24 hours a day till it was done.


When it comes to Texas A&M nobody involved should ever think mediocre (or worse) is acceptable - folks should know that when they accept the job.

Accepting mediocrity on the football field will trickle down to the other sports. Why should a coach of another sport be held to a higher accountability than the football coach. If the football coach can hang on to his job after a disastrous season, why can't the volleyball coach or the soccer coach or the basketball coaches for that matter.

Showing class by not doing anything to embarrass the team at Kyle Field is not the same as accepting mediocrity. To claim otherwise is simply moronic.

However, I can't see how the discussion on this board can hurt the team any more than what's being discussed face to face. You know this is THE subject on campus, regardless of what happens here, and nothing, and no one, is going to stop that.
