Either Liucci is wrong or your BOR is filled with idiots who aren't looking out for A&M's best interests.

Personally, I think the first is more likely.

We have to assume the offer was made saturday when Slive was in town. Since it was informal, they could have retracted that offer since Texas committed to the big12

Regardless, we can assume that we were in with the SEC if the rest of the big12 south left for the PAC16. Otherwise, we would not have been given the lion's share of the cash with OU and Texas (no matter what the projections for payout are, we know we will be at the top - call it a bribe).

Alex, you're a sad little man, run along and go play with your burnt orange toys.

The dust is only beginning to settle. We all will hopefully get some solid answers about this entire ordeal in the coming weeks.

I am a dyed in the wool, Georgia Bulldawg. Live in Georgia, and will die here. I live for SEC football too; just so you know. So I beg to ask a simple question:
The SEC would like to have A&M, and so would most of the fans here in the SEC. Frankly they are o.k. whether the Ags come in or not. All of that aside though. Why don't the Ags just flip Texas the horns down, and come to the SEC anyway? IMHO that would really stir things up.

Seth McKinney said that the SEC told us "we would get an offer when the Big 12 collapsed".

McBuck.. My dad is a dawg, and I wish we would. I'd love to crush Georgia with a payback game between the hedges and gig'em like fleas.

BOR's decided against it and now we are a in a far lesser conference than even the old big12.

life sucks.

Something definitely doesn't add up about this SEC offer. I'm figuring in the next couple days all will be known one way or another.

This morning Seth had an interview and said something to the extend of, the SEC didn't want to be turned down, so the spot was ours, we just had to apply. Much like Neb did with the Big Ten.

For anyone who's not clear on the matter: A&M had a verbal offer to join the SEC, no matter if Texas chose to join the Pacific-10 or stay in the Big 12. All A&M had to do was call. The Aggies passed on the chance to play in the best, most celebrated football league in the nation, however, and chose the safe route.

Did I miss something? Wasn't a meeting scheduled for either Thursday or Friday to discuss? They gave their 72 hour notice on Monday.

This is probably already posted elsewhere, but Zwerneman confirms the offer was solid and unconditional:

FincAg.

Yes. They only have to give a notice to hold an in-person meeting, not a conference call determining our fate. They had that call, and made their decision. If they still meet in-person, I'd suspect they might confer if they were "bribed" by Beebe, without any real substance being there. If that's the case, I'm sure the SEC would likely understand. We were loyal to our state and the conference, which I bet they respect no matter what.

That was a direct message from Billy to me. It is on twitter and you could have read it. It was not before the decision yesterday so it was not a secret. I just got Billy to confirm that we had an offer.

If you had premium you would have heard all kinds of stuff before the rest of us low no star having aggies. =(

No, we don't. We don't have to assume an "unconditional" offer was made at all. The more likely scenario is that it never even got that far with the SEC. By the time Slive came to Texas, the 10 schools were probably well on their way to agreeing in principle to stay in the Big 12. I have to agree with the others that if a split appeared imminent (to the school administrators, NOT to the clueless media and the fans) and A&M had an SEC offer in hand, they would've taken it without hesitation.

Gene basically confirmed my speculation on ESPN dallas today. He told Galloway that had t.u. gone to the pac10, we would be in the SEC (that was his opinion).

He said he couldn't be sure how the rest of the BOR would vote, but he believed we would have gone that way.

He was highly vocal saying that the pac10 was never a choice for us.

Guys, maybe the third time will be a charm. I think eventually you guys will join the SEC. As an LSU fan, I'd be delighted.
