TexAgs' recruiting analyst Ryan Brauninger joined TexAgs Radio on Wednesday morning for another edition of Recruiting Country, highlighting the latest news and notes from the recruiting trail surrounding Texas A&M.

Key notes from Recruiting Country

  • The transition class from Kevin Sumlin to Jimbo Fisher was crazy. I can remember waking up at my apartment to see where the coaches were going. That was super busy. The 2022 class was busy, but a lot of fun.

  • This class has been different. It's weird because there is a certain amount of current commits that you feel they are walking on eggshells talking to you. It's not their fault, and they are in a weird position.

  • I will have notes on the Premium board later today in terms of a visitor list. It sounds like it will be pretty good. I don't know if it's great in terms of uncommitted prospects.

  • At this point, the main goal is to keep what you got. Whatever you add on top of that is icing on the cake. Sure, you would like to see if you can get Drelon Miller‍ back. What will happen with Micah Hudson‍?

  • If you put the Ole Miss game in a vacuum, a three-point loss to a top 10 team on the road, who is a good football team, you could say, "Okay, that was a good offensive effort, showed signs of improvement, and the defense had not played that bad in a long time." That is an outlier with the defense. That snapshot of that game is the recruiting pitch.

  • The problem is we are not doing this in a vacuum. It is a conglomeration and building resume of falling short. That is where the snowball has turned into an avalanche.

  • Since the No. 1 recruiting class, you have been catching arrows from every direction. Now, other schools have more quantitative evidence to back their recruiting pitches. They are ramping up. It should not suprise anybody.

  • They had an incredible run in August. That was like 16 or 17 commits in a month. It was crazy. We have never seen anything like that. At some point, the games have to be played. There will be recruiting outcomes dictated by the onfield outcomes.

  • Tyanthony Smith‍ was awesome last Friday night. Nearly pulled off an upset against Silsbee and Drelon Miller. Tyanthony had 13 tackles, two TFLs and an interception. They put him in at running back, and he ran for 200-plus yards and a couple of touchdowns. They lost by one in overtime.

  • Tyanthony has been sold on his commitment. Everyone thought he would waiver when Weston Davis‍ and Drelon decommitted. Tyanthony made his own decision. He really likes D.J. Durkin. He likes the idea of playing next to Taurean York. I have heard nothing but good things in terms of where he is at with his commitment.

  • Again, this thing is really fluid right now. I will go see Tyanthony play tomorrow night. I will talk to him after. I see him being on the visitor list this week, and as of right now, I think things are on solid ground.

  • It's impossible to predict what will happen. I think Terry Bussey‍ is going to come back this weekend. He is committed, so that shouldn't be breaking news, but because of where things are at, getting Terry back on campus would be an enormous event for the final push.

  • We think they are in a good spot with Dealyn Evans‍. Guys will take visits. They could hate them. People also may think they need to look around. It's incredibly fluid. Day to day and week to week. It's been the most difficult class to predict.

  • National Signing Day is in six weeks. These final six weeks could be topsy-turvy, or they could be smooth sailing. There is no way to tell.

  • Cameron Coleman‍ looks like he will be visiting Florida State. We anticipate that. He has taken visits to Colorado, Alabama and come to A&M a couple of times. He has family ties to this area. This visit to Tallahassee is one to watch. Alabama is one to watch, too.

  • Coen Echols‍ has not told me definitively that he will go visit Auburn. He told me he had talked about it, but if he did, it would be for the Iron Bowl. I think that visit will likely happen, but until I hear it from Coen himself, I won't say it as a fact. Auburn has pushed for him for a long time. Echols has had a great season at Katy. He is the best center prospect in the state of Texas.

  • Jaylan Hornsby‍ visited Rutgers. He is from up there. Rutgers was one of his top three. Rutgers and Maryland are trying to keep area talent close to home.

  • Jordan Pride‍ just visited Florida last weekend. I do think he is coming here this weekend. Things sound pretty good with him. Most of the defensive commits are in a good spot.

  • Dominick McKinley‍ has not taken any visits, but his phone has been blowing up.

  • Gabriel Reliford‍, LSU and USC are pushing him. We know the situation with Dealyn Evans. Jordan Lockhart‍ hasn't visited anywhere else.

  • Tristan Jernigan‍ has visited other places. Watch out for Alabama there. Alabama was always his dream school, so we will see.
