In 1970 Elvis decided he wanted to meet the president, so he got on a plane, went to D.C. and invited himself to the Oval Office the same day he arrived.

In the late 90's there was a made for TV move called "Elvis Meets Nixon", and this year there is "Elvis & Nixon".

I will see it but wonder why they choose a not-so-handsome guy to play Elvis. I assume he's a good actor. Spacey as Nixon seems like pretty good casting.

One of the ironic topics of discussion was drugs. Elvis was adamantly against to so-called recreation drugs -- pot, heroin, coke, etc. But his prescription drug habit he had for years probably killed him. Many of those around Elvis had drug issues that Elvis tried to help them with, but mostly to no avail. In the last year or so of his life, all these people worked in "shifts" to watch Elvis and make sure he didn't OD.

Yeah, his main doctor, Dr. Nick(according to him, so he may just be trying to save face), would attempt to regulate what he gave him, but Elvis had other doctors besides him.
Elvis kept a Physician's Desk Reference to check for interactions, and I always wonder if any medication he received at a dentist's visit the day before he died could have interacted with his usual pill routine in ways he could not foresee. He also had a family and personal history of intestinal issues so the actual strain of attempting to go may have sent him over the edge.

I must say, this movie surprised me. I'd give it a 7.5/10. Some very enjoyable moments and they stayed very true to the story and the principal characters.
