Communication staffers in the White House reportedly have a rocky relationship with the New York Times, which they accuse of unfair treatment and entitlement.

As a result, the White House refuses to allow the Times to interview Biden, whom the paper suspects of being unfit for office, Politico's Eli Stokols reported.

"[O]nly an interview with a paper like the Times can verify that the 81-year-old Biden is still fit to hold the presidency," Times' publisher A.G. Sulzberger believes, according to Politico's report based on two people familiar with his private comments.
LOL. The lies the NYT tells are the best lies!

Quote:

[L]ast May, when Vice President Kamala Harris arrived at the newspaper's midtown headquarters for an off-the-record meeting with around 40 Times journalists, Sulzberger devoted several minutes to asking her why Biden was still refusing to grant the paper or any major newspaper an interview. Harris, according to three people in the room that day, suggested that he contact the White House press office and later grumbled to aides about the back-and-forth being a waste of the allotted time.

A few months later, with the Times' White House team still banned from the embargoed list and frustrations on both sides mounting, senior administration officials invited Executive Editor Joe Kahn, Managing Editor Carolyn Ryan and Bumiller to the White House. Although there was some discussion inside the Times of whether Kahn should respond to a summons to Washington from anyone besides the president himself, he decided to go, largely to make the case for Biden to do an interview.

The meeting with senior adviser Anita Dunn and communications director Ben LaBolt was not unlike many held from time to time with executives from other newspapers and TV networks, an exchange of views about the outlet's coverage, a pitch for more access and an interview. Dunn and LaBolt went through a list of complaints: the unrelenting focus on polls and age, reporters not giving the White House much time to respond to stories prior to publication. The Times brass listened and sought to explain the principles guiding its coverage. The meeting, according to three people on both sides familiar with the conversation, was not especially contentious. One sign of a slight thaw in relations came weeks later when the White House invited Kahn and his wife to attend a state dinner for the Australian prime minister in October.
"But the pleas for an interview have gone nowhere," Politico reported.

White House grievances:
  • Attributing quotes to a direct White House staffer and refusing via a "punitive response" to change the attribution
  • Being "institutionally aligned toward Warren and progressives"
  • "Willingness to legitimize rumors swirling around Hunter Biden"
  • Publishing "low numbers in the NYT's approval poll"
  • Writing stories about Biden's age
  • Claims that Times staffers are "entitled"
New York Times grievances:
  • Removing "all Times' reporters from its 'tier one' email list for background information about various briefings"
  • Not "invited" to Biden's first public appearance
  • Refusing to grant the Times an interview
  • Inability to confirm Biden, 81 as capable of running country

Gee, in NYC you can be indicted for election interference with that type of media manipulation, right?

Holy crap. This administration is a whole other level of 'snowflake' when they believe the fringe-left NYT is giving them unfair treatment.

Even the NYT can see that Biden is unfit for office. Literally everyone outside of the administration believe it. And I bet there are some inside the administration who believe it too but are too afraid to say it.

We don't agree on much, but on this, there's no denying you nailed it.

No administration should have a "relationship" with any news source. The second they do the credibility
of that source is shot (in my opinion) when it comes to everyone in that relationship.

The leftist progressives don't understand: it isn't the salesman. It is the product that actually sucks.

Leftist ideology is a massive fail no matter who is implementing it, given enough time to reach the inevitable catastrophe is caused by being based in an intricate web of delusions.

I remember Obama never really being happy with his press coverage either. Really I don't think Democrats would be happy with anything less than North Korean style adulation.

They are so egotistical and self assured that they are right that there can be no legitimate counter arguments or alternative perspectives or genuine opposition so they see anything outside of sycophantic endorsement as subversive and harmful to their obviously morally virtuous intent. Their ideology functions like a religion now. They have faith in the righteousness of it and any questioning or opposition must have evil intentions.

De facto White House communications chief Anita Dunn, 66, the wife of Biden personal attorney Bob Bauer, told colleagues she had decided to call in prominent Democrats to explain to Jean-Pierre, 49, that the time was ripe to move on, sources told The Post.

"There were a number of people she asked to engage Karine," said one source who heard of the strategy directly from Dunn, whose role as senior adviser has been filled during the past three presidencies by Jared Kushner (Donald Trump), Valerie Jarrett (Barack Obama) and Karl Rove (George W. Bush).

The source also told The Post that Dunn had claimed White House chief of staff Jeff Zients knew about and supported the cloak-and-dagger scheme to push Jean-Pierre out of the West Wing.

"There was an effort to have some outside folks who Karine knows and trusts talk to her about why leaving last fall would have made a lot of sense for her and her career," the source said, calling it an "effort to encourage her to move along."
They can't fire her. She checks too many boxes. And they can't get her a gig on CNN or MSNBC?

she'll get her book deal and a cnn/msdnc gig whenever she wants it whether she leaves to take it now or waits for it until later. it actually might be a good sign that the regime/handlers realize how terrible she is.

When you make the DEI hire to virtue signal, you are stuck with the DEI hire for as long as they want to stay employed there, because there is no way you can fire a gay, black woman that you put in such a prominent position.

I'm really enjoying this. Biden admin is at odds with the most friendly newspaper to their administration they will ever find and they are stuck with the worst press secretary of all time because they chose to check the exact same boxes that prevent them from firing her.

I need to make some popcorn.

Biden's Senior Advisor Once Said Chinese Dictator Mao Zedong Was One Of Her 'Favorite Political Philosophers'
Quote from the article
  • A A senior advisor to Joe Biden's presidential campaign said Chinese dictator Mao Zedong was one of her "favorite political philosophers" during a speech to graduating high schoolers in 2009.
  • "And Mao Zedong said, 'You fight your war and I'll fight mine,'" Dunn said. "Think about that for a second. You don't have to accept the definition of how to do things, and you don't have to follow other people's choices and paths. You fight your own war, you lay out your own path."
  • Mao's Great Leap Forward policy led to the deaths of an estimated 45 million Chinese people from 1958 to 1962, earning him the dubious distinction of being one of the biggest mass murderers in recorded human history.
aggiehawg, thanks for the information. It becomes clearer everyday what is the driving force behind our inept, corrupt, unethical, amoral, dishonest, dishonorable Presidential administration. President Biden has been the useful tool of some very corrupt people.

Some pushback from the Times.

Quote:

Reporters with the New York Times also disputed a recent report from POLITICO saying that publisher A.G. Sulzberger said in a private comment that "only an interview with a paper like the Times can verify that the 81-year-old Biden is still fit to hold the presidency."

"I've never heard AG say anything like that nor anyone else at the @nytimes," Peter Baker, chief White House correspondent at the Times, wrote on X. "It's just not the way it works. AG wants us to cover this president and every president as fully, fairly and aggressively as we can because that's our role. That's true regardless of whether we get an interview. AG takes our responsibility very seriously and is a complete straight shooter."
LOL.

Quote:

In a statement on Thursday, the Times called it "troubling" that Biden "has so actively and effectively avoided questions from independent journalists during his term." The statement read:
Quote:

In meetings with Vice President Harris and other administration officials, the publisher of The Times focused instead on a higher principle: That systematically avoiding interviews and questions from major news organizations doesn't just undermine an important norm, it also establishes a dangerous precedent that future presidents can use to avoid scrutiny and accountability.

That is why Mr. Sulzberger has repeatedly urged the White House to have the president sit down with The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, Reuters, CNN and other major independent news organizations that millions of Americans rely on to understand their government.
