Chain link fence question

I need to connect 2 sections of existing chain link fence. It is only 4' fence and the 2 end posts are in place. The fence won't do anything but finish enclosing a yard. The distance is 36' and previously had wood fence in this spot. It was between the neighbors driveway and the house.
Everything I can find online says not to exceed 10' between posts. Should I bite the bullet and put 3 posts 9' apart or would I be ok just putting in 2 posts 12' apart?

The difference between 2 posts and 3 posts is almost zilch.

Yes, it's one extra hole, concrete, post, and hardware. But that is virtually nothing in the long rung.
Do not skimp on a fence, it will cost you more in the end. Go with 3 posts evenly spaced.

I tell you what, I'll come help you put up your chain link, if you return the favor to come help me put up mine.
I just need to dig 80 holes… it won't be that bad!!!

Sounds like a deal - for you!

I think I'll just dig my 3 holes.
