I saw one of these yesterday. Is it just me or does this seem wrong?

The only thing wrong is that Texas charges just $20 extra for that plate. Anyone dumb enough to want one should be dumb enough to pay 10x that.

That's fine for Louisiana license plates, this is Texas....only Texas institutions should be on plates here.

Did you ever think that many Ags may live in another state might buy plates like that from their own state with Ag symbol. Duh.

I think it's wrong as well. In state institutions only. Good Gawd - if I ever saw a Texas plate with OU on it, my head might explode.

The paragraph at the top of that says that specialty plates are not street legal, while the in state schools are... maybe that will cool your jets a little.

The one I saw was on a white Honda Accord heading down Hwy 288 in Houston and it had a legit looking number on it so I assumed it was street legal. The car sure was using it as such.

duoh... after further review you are correct. they do have one for the LSU Alumni Association. Not good times for the state of texas.

You can get A&M license plates in Virginia. LSU plates in Texas is just a sign that many cajuns have made the migration to Texas for jobs. Hence why me and my relatives are here

I've seen other states college plates and the Texas ones are yawners. You just get a tiny (and usually out of date) logo with your school name on a plain white back ground.

All I know is that when I lived in Florida I got to order TX A-M.

Florida Gators plate is in the works as well. Not long until you see several SEC plates I imagine. Arkansas seems logical.

All the states around here have out of state options for this (if they have this program at all). It just takes a large enough number of people to request it according to the rules set out in the plan. Like another poster said, you can get the A&M version in Virginia for example. I don't see the problem. Residents that attended out of state schools get to have some fun with their plates and the state gets additional, voluntary revenue.
