I have nothing against the Aggies, but before you start talking trash about LSU and their ability to recruit, head on over to Rivals and see who has the #1 recruiting class in the nation? Oh yeah, its LSU, and should remain so throughout the rest of this recruiting cycle. We had a poor season, sure, but we've also won 3 SEC championships in 7 years, 2 national championships in the past 5 years, won 10 games or more 5 of the last 8 years, and are 10-2 in our last 12 bowl games. There aren't too many recruits who are going to turn their nose up at a chance to play for this team just because of one bad season.......especially since we are bringing in, arguably, one of the best freshmen classes, full of ridiculous talent, leadership, and character, in all of college football.
Secondly, there is almost no chance that you will pull Loston. He's already pretty much a silent commit to LSU. Shepard is his cousin and has been in his ear this entire year. Ever since he decommitted from Clemson, he's been all LSU. Everyone close to him, including his coach and his family, have stated that he is going to LSU.
Also, you are more than welcome to C. Michael. We didn't want him, so there was never any battle over his services. Unfortunately for him, the schools that he wanted to go to don't seem to want him. Except for aTm and Nebraska, no one seems to have given him an offer. I'm sure he'll do well for ya'll, but there must be some reason that he spent all season waiting for LSU to give him a committable offer. He spent this entire year claiming that all of these high profile schools were interested in him, but he only has committable offers from aTm and Nebraska. It seems the high profile teams are seeing something, or aren't seeing something, that is holding them back.
LSU is likely to finish up this class with between six and eight 5 star recruits, thirteen and sixteen 4 star guys, and a couple of 3 stars. Assuming that we get Debose and Randle, which is likely, we'll have the highest point rated recruiting class in history. Seems to me that Les is doing a pretty darn good job recruiting, but if aTm is pulling in classes that are just as talented, then I wish you all the best. Maybe some recruits will want to go there instead of LSU.
So, while you certainly may have some valid points about our season being poor ( of course, to keep things in perspective, it wasn't nearly as bad as yours ), we really have nothing to worry about. We're already in the hunt for a top notch DC, and like Florida last year, our entire team is mostly made up of Soph. and RS Freshmen. Every team has rebuilding years. Ours happened to be worse since we lost 3 All American Defensive starters, a likely All-SEC QB, two 1st Rnd Draft WR's, and our Defensive Coordinator. Its odd that you think it is a negative that we might "level out" as a 10-2 or 9-3 team every year. That would likely include several SEC championships each decade, and possibly a NC or two. When is the last time aTm won a conference championship? Aggie fans would be having multiple orgasms with a season that you're making fun of LSU for.
Anyway, I actually pull for the Aggies because my dad played ball there for a year before he moved to another Big-12 school. I just have to defend my personal alma mater when it has criticism being heaped on it by another team's fans.
Best of luck to you guys!
