I'm looking at buying a new rifle for my birthday present to myself this year. I've shot by grandfather's Remington .30-06 for years, and it has served me well. Realizing that I'm not a spring chicken anymore, and I can often run half a box of ammo through a rifle in a weekend, I'm looking for something with less recoil. My dad has a Savage 110 in .243, and I love shooting that rifle as it's got a heavier barrel, but the action is a bit clunky. I'm not going to be using this rifle on shots past 200 yards, and most will be within 100 yards. But I need something fairly accurate because I try to take mostly head shots (meat hunting) and hate tracking does in blackbrush. Wood or synthetic stock is fine with me, no real preference there. I would probably lean synthetic as I don't really care that much on nice looking wood for this rifle. I don't want to spend a fortune, but need something fairly reliable. So what say you? Any brands or models I should look into?
ETA: left out they I'm wanting something with an adjustable trigger.
