I have to tell you, I've been to a few shows now at the Palace Theater and I am super impressed with this venue. We saw the 1999 Legacy of Prince. Wow, what a fun show!

The seats were great, had a very attentive server who took great care of us. The weather was perfect and the crowd was fun! I love these smaller up close and personal concerts. Nice job Palace!

I've been to several shows at the Palace and always have a good time. Gotta give Bryan lots of credit for building up their downtown area with music venues, bars and restaurants.

I was at the Prince show this weekend, too. We sat towards the right of the stage but up close. I don't know if it was just the angle we had but it was impossible to see his face for about 75% of the shows because of the way he was backlit. I really thought he could have used a spotlight. When the colored lights were off it was much better. During one song, I looked away. When i looked back at the stage, I could not find Prince for several seconds. When I finally found him again he was right in the middle of the stage in darkness. I enjoyed the show, however, and would go again.

They need to consider either an expanded beverage selection or some higher quality options in what they have now. The Stafford has a much better selection and they should think about that.

I thought they had a great selection. Our group had some blueberry mojitos and mango margs, we had some draft beers and I sipped on Buffalo Trace. The food was good too, they brought it over from Billy's across the street.

Hey Marooned. I know the owners and they are always interested in getting constructive feedback. What kind of expanded drink selection would you like to see specifically? Types of liquor/brands etc. Thanks.

Add a couple quality craft beer offerings to the lineup. Just take a look at what the Stafford is doing to get some ideas.

That's awesome that you're trying to get the live music scene off of life support in downtown Bryan. It used to be great back in the day!

One thing I would suggest for the Palace in general is that it would be pretty helpful if they would list upcoming shows on their website. Some of what you said is coming sounds interesting to me, but there is nothing about any May or June shows on the Palace website.

Both are still playing similar sized bars in Houston/Austin. Not sure why its a problem. That ship has sailed on Vulfpeck and Lawrance, but Cory could still be had in this size venue I believe. Vallejo for sure.

First time I saw them they opened for Pushmonkey. I was blown away at two of the best bands I had ever seen.

That would have been around 1993 or 4.

Shinyribs played the Palace last fall; great show. I get your point about preferring original artists to cover bands but I assume there's a built-in interest for cover bands that may not be there for original artists. We saw the Ransom Brothers at the Palace and were two of only about ten people in the audience. (We'd seen them a few months earlier at a packed club in the hill country.)

I feel like people may not have known about it, similar to what was mentioned above. I hope we can get more people attending these events so we can get bigger names in here!

We saw there was (I believe) a Blink 182/Foo Fighters tribute concert one night several months ago and I knew nothing about it until walking by and seeing people in The Palace and an announcement on the marquee sign.

I've tried looking at The Palace website (and I follow their FB page) for upcoming events and it's not helpful. In fact, I only found out about the Metallica tribute concert because of this TexAgs post.

Advertising is tough today. You don't know where your audience is (twitter, fb, insta) and for this show they might mostly be on snapchat, but the next show the audience might be on facebook.

Got to keep the website up to date and push those google and FB ads.

Also, I'm not sure how it fares today but about ten years ago it seemed like everybody was using Bandsintown for concert info.
