Turn the dial and nothing…

No air moving hot or cold

Fuse issue?
Fan Motor?
Other?

Have you checked the fuse?

The Fuse was fine

It eventually started working again but something is clearly up.

Fan motors are a common fail point on toyotas. My Tundra and Highlander both had them fail. The good news is they are super easy to replace.

Thanks. Got a couple things I'm going to check but that will be one of them

Obviously trolling. Toyotas are infallible.

Blower motor likely bit the dust

My old Tacoma did this. I would say this is one of the few key issues on these trucks.

What a coincidence! My 4Runner and Lexus are infallible too! Once you go Jap, you'll never go back.

Our '05 Tundra is still rocking the original blower motor!

Blower motor should be an easy fix. An idiot like me was able to replace it in my '08. It's like 4 bolts or so.
I know a lot about a little, and a little about a lot.

3 on mine that I pulled a dead mouse out of recently.

Of course the mouse was dead. Obviously he ate the 4th bolt.

Most likely either the resistor for the blower motor went out or the wire that plugs into the blower burned out.

It's below the glovebox and you can access it without disconnecting anything - get down on the floorboard and look up, find the wire going to the blower motor and disconnect/reconnect it/move it around a good bit with everything "on" and see if you can get it to work again.

Doesn't it default to high when the resistor craps out?

Mine didn't "default to", but rather wouldn't run unless it was switched to high.

If OP is switching back and forth but never makes it all the way to high, it'll appear not to work.

Just something for them to consider.

My first position won't work but speeds 2-4 still work.

Not sure if resistor or fan motor.

I guess the big thing to do is test for voltage at the blower motor connection before throwing a blower motor at it. Then test for continuity at the blower plug itself.

The start of the end for the resistor, or maybe brushes are starting to get worn.

I'm betting resistor.

But it's hot in Texas - you'll need speed 3 or 4 for the next few months; it can wait.

Do tacomas have crotch vents like the Land CruiserS?

2005+ do not

Not sure about first gen (pre-2005) models.

Thanks for the input guys

It went out again today so going to look at blower motor next when I get home.

As a last resort, smacking it with your hand sometimes turns it back on.

Also works for old TV's

And my roommate my sophomore year used to whack the crap out of his CD player when it acted up.

Post photos of both (M&F) plugs when you get a chance.
