I'm looking for advice on restoring cedar (actual tree) posts on a cabin in the hill country. Last time they were touched is probably over 20 years ago. The paint store says I need to use Revive and stain sealer/remover. My gut keeps telling me to sand the dang things down and then apply sealer. I've scoured the internet trying to find how to's, but most of the tutorials are about cedar wrapped posts and fences. Anyone have any experience they can share with this? Thanks in advance!

Check out the wood stain from Sherwin Williams.

Our stain on cedar from them still looks good after 5 years.

Note: we have regular square posts, not logs.

Thanks! Yes, ours are actual logs. Here's a pic.
