Putting in a new master bathroom shower. Trying not to get divorced in the process!

So, people recommend getting a reputable name brand shower head: Moen, Delta or Kholer.

We've always had a shower head with a hand held magnetically attached on the side with a pull out dial for pressure and then turn the dial for temp control.

Both have worked fine for me. But, wifey has other ideas…is a separate hand held that slides up and down a bar better?

So, are a Moen, Delta and Kholer good companies

Is the detachable hand held from the shower face good product ?

I noticed some shower heads come with a valve built in while others come with a separate valve.

Do I need to buy a 1200.00 shower head system while a 200.00 seems fine to me? Is a steel / brass system that much better than a plastic one?

Fire away. Thanks.

Don't go cheap and don't go plastic. Get her whichever one she wants and smile when you do it.

We bought a KOHLER K-TS396-4-BN Devonshire last year when we had our shower rebuilt. Have been very happy with it. The water pressure has been fantastic.

We have a separate handheld that slides up and down a bar and is detachable. Delta. We also have a bench that we use sometimes so it's helpful to be able to move it around. We have two of them in our walk-in shower. It's also great for cleaning those sometimes hard to reach areas. Or for use as an emergency bidet if there's another run on toilet paper like we had with Covid. TMI? Sorry.

A surprise to be so happy with a replacement shower head.
Has everything ALL the others had, good pressure even from rural water supply & long runs.

Even able to clean the neighboring toilet with black push button power spray under the lip ... which now is the go-to for HVAC air filter washes.

The reviews were spot on

We also have 4 wall sprayers from the same series, but couldn't find them. The hand sprayer is on its own "circuit" but everything else is controlled by the diverter. It's a car wash when you have all of them running at once.

Step 1 of shower head replacement....remove stupid flow restrictors so you get full flow

Can the restrictor be taken out of these? (If it wasn't low flow it sounds perfect)

Restictor flow in the wall pipe or the actual head?

The blue part in the head. Some are easy enough to pull out with needle nose pliers by grabbing one of the pieces of plastic just inside the little o-ring. Others you have to gently drill out and then pry out the remaining ring. Try it first on one you're replacing so you know how to do it without damaging the threads.

The one in the stem coming out of the wall must be there to make a tight seal to the head. Reinsert that in the new head after removing the blue restrictor.

Even drilling out the blue to the diameter of the little o-ring (removing it too) will increase flow if you're uneasy about the full removal.

We are remodeling our kid's bathroom. The plastic showerhead w/ handles was over $700.00

I finally just told her to get what she wants.

Maybe I'll get lunch and be able to enjoy some shower head now…

Go to a moores or some plumbing supply house. Facets in BCS has a shower wall where you can see various heads in action.

Don't shower in the show room... salesmen will look at you weird. dont ask how I know.
