That would be my guess based on the scales, coloration, and what appears to be the belly color - but I am not sure

Discovered in tree in my northern Grimes County front yard. I remember last year, maybe year before, seeing similar shed skin in exact location.

What is the life span for such a snake as this?
Do you think it lives in this stand of post oaks, or under them?
Is a snake prone to shed in, or near the same location each time it sheds?

Ballsy move raw dogging it. I wear gloves (sometimes tactical like above) to avoid their musk getting on my skin.

I've become pretty good at keeping them relatively calm and keeping the tail under control which is where the mess comes from.

My daughter killed this snake that was on the daycare playground where she works. She was told it is a cottonmouth.

Most snake bites occur at this time (when someone is messing with it, to catch or to kill). In this instance I completely understand dispatching the snake, still gotta be REALLY careful how you do it.
