For those interested in the team on the opposite end of the RPI column

The Hawks are in their second full year of D1 baseball. In 2023 they finished 18-37 and a respectable 13-14 in conference play (North East Conf).

This season they have experienced a slight regression...

Only the Top 6 teams (out of 12) in the standings make the Northeast Conference Tournament. Even if all the teams made the tourney and UMES won it all they would do is bump out the regular season champ being that the Northeast Conference is a one bid league.

If they're in their second year of D1, I don't think they are eligible for the NCAA tournament yet.

You would think a team with no wins, especially this late in the season, would have the lowest RPI. Nope. They are one notch higher than Ark Pine Bluff who has 8 wins.

Man, how demoralizing must it be to play for a team doing THAT badly? You get the feeling that our boys are starting baseball careers, and many of them will go pro eventually. They take the game seriously (other than a little bog rattlin'). I can't imagine their guys have the same outlook on their future in the sport.

From a little research, as far as I can tell, our beloved Hawks are on pace to have the worst record in D1 baseball history

Other D1 teams have gone winless , but records pre-1993 are tough to find. *4 teams were winless in the shortened 2020 season

Winless full seasons I could find:

2007 Coppin St went 0-44
2009 Coppin St went 0-29
2017 St Peters went 0-38

***Bonus nugget***
2000 UMES went 0-39 vs D1, 1-48 overall
