I have done much research on the best mexican food in Houston. Here is my list.

1. Pappasitos
2. Lupe's
3. El Tiemp
4. Guadalajara

These are not opinions...they are facts. Any other suggestions are wrong.

Also a fact, there is no good mexican food in Dallas. I lived there for a few years and tried to find good mexican food. There was none.

El Bosque in Shenandoah (the Woodlands) is freaking money. That's actually my favorite one in Houston now.

El Tiempo, Lupe Tortilla, Cafe Adobe, & Cyclone Anaya's???? I really hope you are joking, the food is good but is not great at any of these places. Obviously you are blinded by the strong margaritas.

El Tiempo has great fajitas and queso, and the warm butter sauce is money. I think the margaritas and atmosphere add to the place, but the fajitas are damn good. Lupe has very good fajitas also, and their enchiladas are well above average. The rest of their menu is pretty solid, whereas I think El TIempo drops off for the most after the fajitas. El Jarrito is owned by an old Lupe worker, and I think it is better and has more variety on the menu. The enchiladas and carne guisada are excellent, and their rice and beans are my favorite. As for Adobe, I went one time and thought it was pretty bad.... despite drinking a couple margaritas.

Pico De Gallo in Sugar Land. I like Lupe as well.

Hands down...the answer is El Jarrito in Katy. They have won awards for best Mexican restaurant in the entire Houston area.
