I'll be visiting a friend that newly moved to Pearland soon. Although I lived in galveston for four years, I've never had BBQ in h-town. His girlfriend has already nixed Pappa's Bros.

Any other ideas? thanks

Luling City Market on Richmond just east of 610

I personally like Goode Company at Kirby and Westpark, but many people have divergent opinions on that place

If all else fails, there's a Rudy's on I-45 in Spring

I've heard that Luling City is the place to go, but I've never been. Have been to Goode Co and Pappas - prefer Goode.

If you go to Luling City, let us know how it is.

Luling is pretty damn good.

Nonmacher's is the best by far. But, it is over in Katy.

1) Luling City Market (Richmond just inside 610)
2) Houston BBQ Company (same stuff, Eldridge between Briar Forest and Memorial)
3) Pizzitola's (Shepherd just south of I-10)

All high quality. Goode Co. wishes they could cook a good brisket. Or sausage. Or ribs for that matter. Most other BBQ in Houston is an embarrassment to the entity that is Texas BBQ.

There is a decent one in Pearland, can't remember the name, have seen it mentioned on here.

Also there is one in Alvin that I have heard is decent. Don't know the name of it either, although I think it is someone's name, like Joe's or something.

We had a really good thread about this with some great reviews 2 or 3 months ago.

My picks:
Goode Co (Kirby)
Luling City
Houston BBQ Co.

1. Williams Smokehouse on Wheatley
traditional East Texas style, known for brisket & ribs, good peach cobbler

2. Houston BBQ on Eldridge
more in the central Texas style, vinegary sauce, nice sausage

Then simply ask Velma to put your sauce on the side of your sausage.

My point is that if they don't know better, then, they kinda suck.

Also, Thelma's sauce is quite sweet. Not saying it's bad, I like it pretty well, but some people don't like so much brown sugar in the sauce.

Goode's is awesome in my opinion.
Pizzitola's is pretty good.
Pappa's is a joke.

A little farther out, but The Swinging Door in Richmond on FM 359 is about the best I've had. Living in Katy, I've actually never been to Nonmacher's but I've always heard it's great.

If they are down in pearland, the bext place is Central Texas BBQ at 518 and 35 right by the railroad tracks. Second choice near Pearland would be Joes in Alvin, but there are a half dozen places up in Houston that are better than Joes. I would drive a long way to eat at Central Texas before I went to any other place in Houston.

Cinco Ranch Aggie,

if you're wanting to go a little further out, Doziers in Fulshier is great.

brother-in-laws bbq is really good, but way on the east side of town, so it's out of the way for most folks

Luling
Pizzatolas
Goode Co.

Pappas is horribile IMO. They can do seafood, cajun, steaks, mexican and burgers really well, but they have failed at BBQ.

I like

Baker's
Rudy's
Luling
Pizzatola's

Swinging Door and Pappas BBQ sucked.

I second brother-in-laws, but not an area of town you should be in after dark.

Houston's BBQ on Eldridge was the worst I have ever tried.

I wish they would open a Rudy's inside the loop. It would make a freakin killing. I know it is a chain and all, but IMO it is better than any other BBQ joint in town.

Demeris never gets mentioned and I think it is pretty good.

I do like Luling City Market though.

Joe's in Alvin is good, and so is Central TX in Pearland.

i think pizzatola's is more expensive than lulling. i like the place, but it's a bit high for what you get ($2.50 for pinto beans!)

Third, and yes BIL's part of town is thoed. Adds to the ambiance. Is that mesquite burning on the pit or is it a burning apartment complex? Are those violins or sirens?

What's the name of the BBQ joint off 1960, I believe it is between 45 and 59.

Big head Rich Lord always raves about how good their BBQ po-boys are.
