And again, let me stress that this is 3rd hand info. But it originates from a source VERY close to the SEC office.

A&M is for all but in the SEC if they want in. Slive is in College Station as we speak, and had a conference call with all the A&M Board of Regents. The Board is in favor of the move to the SEC.

Now, as for the issue of an 'offer', This is simply a formality. There are logistics that have to be addressed. Ton's of questions answered, etc. Once everybody is on the same page, at that point the official offer will be made. And make no mistake, it WILL be made.

Now, what happens after A&M is on board? As I stated last night, Slive is going to make a run at Oklahoma. PUBLICLY OU is saying they are with Texas. But make no mistake, Castiglione and OU's Board have real concerns about the Pac 10. They don't think it is a good fit for them. And the big concern for them is the RRS. They are worried that it will be as risk. Slives job will be to convince them that the SEC will throw it's full support behind making sure that game is preserved. And Texas really has no leverage with them on that. The game is as important to them as it is OU.

OU will be the key in determining whether the SEC expands to 14 or 16. If it's just A&M on the west side, then most likely Virginia Tech will get an offer on the east side. But if Slive lands OU, then the Slive will try to land Duke and North Carolina together on the east side.

If Slive lands A&M and OU, then Texas has a decision to make. At that point the Pac 10 move has some real holes in it. Texas has 3 options..1. They, along with the remaining proverbial 'fat ugly chicks' in the Big 12 can go to the Pac 10.....2. They can try to talk OU and A&M to stay and try to salvage the Big 12, or 3. They can go to the Big 10. They'll have some soul searching to do.

Make no mistake, Slive is handling this brilliantly. Slive is the best Conference Commissioner of all the conferences, and it's not even close.

If OU follows, there goes half the reasons why everyone on this board wants to be in the SEC.

If it means we still separate from tu, then I am still all for it. It is much better than the alternative where we all go to the Pac16. No thank you. Most definitely it is still the SEC, with or without OU.

I'd rather have UT in the SEC than OU. With OU, you have anything goes mentality and no respect for academic side of football (emphasis academic side of FOOTBALL)...and then UT can say "look at the Okies and Aggies going to the SEC".

I personally don't mind if OU comes too. Some of the previous chains have already stated that the SEC was going to use us for leverage to bring in OU. If OU comes, you know then they will make a run at tu. I would still prefer Va Tech plus one in the east. Being from KY, I can understand them making a run at UNC and Duke from the basketball perspective. The SEC would rival the Big East in the winter.

I wouldn't mind ou joining us in the sec. At least we have a fellow big 12 school with us. However, my biggest concern is how we will do in the sec. Our past doesn't make me feel the most confident.

Isn't that the purpose of going to the sec

Had already considered this possibility. I'm all for OU being in the SEC with us, but figured tu would have to choose between the RRS and the Thanksgiving Day game with us as OOC games to be played. My thought was that political and public pressure would force tu to continue the Thanksgiving game over the RRS. They definitely would not play both. OU's entire Texas identity and ability to recruit Texas effectively is built around that RRS. If they become a member of the SEC with us, and maintain the RRS with tu, our potential recruiting advantage over them would be significantly reduced.

The Big 10 wants Notre Dame not tu.

tks for the post pulling guard

i bet it ends up being us plus one.

but i wouldn't mind stealing OU and screwing over the pac 10. i don't care if we lose the rivalry game or not with tu...they'll be missing it just as bad or worse than us ...

If OU and tu stay together the RRS is a conference game and the likelihood of us still being able to keep the t-sips on the schedule for a late season non-conference game is increased. If OU comes to the SEC, we'll probably never see tu in a Thanksgiving match-up again. No way they'll want to play two SEC teams in one year.

As much as I hate to say it, if A&M and OU go SEC, then it makes a lot of sense for tu to follow. However, I'm not sure the SEC folks will want to see that much of a shift between divisions for their teams.

One more tidbit....

If Slive pulls off the 16 team SEC by adding A&M, OU, UNC and Duke, he can renegotiate the SEC TV contract guaranteeing every SEC member around $35 million.

If we bring OU along too, we better get freaking Duke as our annual inter-division game.

I can live with an annual set up with LSU, Bama, and texas every year in non con. At any given time, at least one of those three will be down.

Add OU into the mix, and that's just insane.

If they add OU as well the West with UNC and Duke in the East then the West will be ridiculously more difficult. Are they going to have to realign to get Bama in the East?

Can OU go somewhere without OSU? Slive said they would not target ACC teams in expansion (for now anway). Is it possible Slive is starting the Dominoes in this order: Get A&M, which leads to getting OU, as OU knows that will force tu to join SEC as well, and then Okie State makes 4 to push the SEC to 16 teams?

Like I said in my "What about this" post. I have no problem with OU, Texas, and OSU going along to the SEC to make a west division of A&M, Texas, OU, OSU, Arkansas, LSU, Ole Miss, and Miss State, to go along with the current rest of the SEC in the East. What a conference that would be with all rivalries preserved. I/We are not afraid of the SEC competition, so why be afraid of the rest. It Would mean massive tv money, and bar none the best conference in the nation for a long long time.

And I neglected to mention, we would be driving the train for a change, albeit within the desires of the SEC.

Ya know, the sips might just have to come with us to the lowly ol' SEC, if OU tries to bolt from under their (tu's) skirt towards the SEC.

Or just take all three, OU, tu, and A&M.

Now, would that be a conference, or what?

No it didn't... it originated in your head as your own theory. Its cool to post that, but as I've said before... managing boards and whatnot just don't go out and tell just anybody stuff. The people 'in the know' are generally guys who don't talk to or associate themselves with dudes who read and create accounts on internet message boards to spread the word.

And yeah... the SEC is all poised to grab A&M, OU, UNC, and DUKE... the Rice of North Carolina... that'd be their 4th contact. Sure, Duke's got a good bball program, but outside of that, they bring a virtual zero to any conference.

Man I would think SEC would let us have access to more top recruits. I favor going SEC with or without any other Big 12 teams.

To me it is not about getting away from Texas and OU, it is about affiliating with the best conference, which I believe is the SEC and Texas and OU along with us just makes it better IMO.

Ag's one thing to think about in all this. Slive may or may not get OU (personally prefer there be no OU, but that's just me), but look at what this does. Slive is weakening Texas/OU with this, which helps you guys, and the SEC. Think about it. The more he can disrupt Texas plans, the weaker it makes them look. The more threats they come out with, the more desperate they look. Which adds up to improving your imagine because you ain't skeerd of the SEC. While if OU goes with Texas, they continue to look like lapdogs to the whole nation, and lapdogs to a school that was not tough enough for the SEC, but A&M was. Beyond that, if OU does follow the bovine rectum west, it has also SERIOUSLY strained that relationship, which makes them weaker. Everything Slive is doing benefits the SEC, and you guys. If Slive pulls off the SEC 16 super conference, then 35 Mill a year and a seriously weakened Texas awaits. Texas is playing with the big boys, and it's losing at the moment. And as a pig fan, that makes me drink another beer and dance in my living room.

So Slive is helping all of us, and tightening the screws on Texas from many angles. First time I've ever seen Texas getting the screws tightened down on them, and I like it.

Thanks guys. Welcome again to the SEC. You helped yourself, you helped us, and you've hurt Texas and their Texas sized egos where it counts.

WarPigs!

Duke to the SEC? The all things football crazy (except for Kentucky) SEC? I'm calling BS. And with no Duke, no UNC.
