My son is an A&M freshman and we attended the freshman convocation in August. Dr. Gates gave an excellent speech. A&M will miss him and I am saddened a bit to know that my sons (I have another that will be in the FTAB in fall 2008) will not experience his leadership.

I bought Dr. Gates' book for my dad my freshman year(02'-03'), and he signed it with a personal message for my dad that same day, adressing him as "Colonel" (retired Army).

My dad was very happy about it. He was even more happy when Gates became Sec. of Defense. And he finished that book front to back.
