How long do you want to ignore this user?
1. ALA
2. tOSU
3. Boise St
4. Texas
5. Va Tech
6. TCU
7. UF
8. Iowa
9. Nebraska
10. Oregon

I guess Boise finally broke the glass ceiling. It will be interesting to see if the AP and Coaches Polls also rank them so highly out of the gate.

I think Texas and Nebraska are a bit high. Maybe drop them down 2 positions each, although I'm not sure who to bump ahead of them. Their high rankings might very well be by default.

not sure if i understand that picture besides the obvious that that woman's body is top notch.

as for Ohio St. I hope they lose every game and Jim T. loses his vest in a horrific grease fire accident (where he is not hurt of course).

Although, they are in a craptastic conference full of blowies and JV teams so that ranking is probably not unrealistic.

And as for braskpants, i think they are too high as well because their offense is like our defense. a pourous dumpster fire. but i like their fans so keep em there.

big 10 support? after you read the following teams?

michigan - gutterballs
osu - always over hyped. How did they do in those championship games? i think they lost by a combined 100 points over 2 years. strong. They may have beat Oregon, but then again, who cares
Penn St. - Decent
Mich St. - really?
And from there i don't even want to continue because it is a waste of time

Is that picture lobbying for Ole Miss' inclusion in the top 10? (notice the "hotty toddy" on the tent)

I'm hoping for the tsip football team to follow in the footsteps of their hoops brethren, and get over-hyped, only to free-fall out of the rankings once they hit conference.

I believe that the hot girl post was meant to insinuate that many of those rankings are due to the teams' media darling status. cough*texas*cough

I think #6 is about right for Texas. Who would you rank ahead of the Horns?

I'm sorry...I'm a Texas fan, season ticket holder...but #4??

That's not right. 11-15, maybe..D will be very good, but no one knows what the impact of losing Colt and Shipley will be. I think it will be HUGE.

They win 10 games agin, that's a fantastic season imo.

That's makes a little sense, maybe ....

Last year I figured them in the national championship picture on the strength of McCoy/Shipley/OL/DL. The first 2 are gone, and the second lost better than 50% of the starters didn't they?

Their recruiting depth has been good enough for a top 15 pre season team, but #6 after those losses? I don't think so.

I think the Texas defense will be even better in 2010 than from the previous season, even with losing Earl Thomas and Lamar Houston.

I think a case could be made for putting Alabama, Ohio State, Florida, & Boise State ahead of Texas. Any other team after that I would have serious doubts about. So around #6 seems right. Those of you knocking the Horns ranking, I'm really curious who you think is markedly better than Texas.

at this point no one knows Alex, hence the stupidity of preseason and offseason polls.

Texas got there based on name value and we both know it. I'm not saying they wont be good, but to put a team with HUGGEEEEE question marks that high is ludicrous. I think the ESPN writers weren't sure about the 6-15 range and just put texas there by default since they have the best "name"

We hear that every year on here, but at the end of the year Texas has had five top 5, and seven top 10 finishes over the last nine years with the lowest finish at #13.

They lose good players every year, and replace them with good players every year. Combine that with a stable, tenured coaching staff and it's no suprise they start in the top 10 every year. Also, it's college football. Which team #4-10 doesn't have question marks?

We'll take Nebraska at Kyle this year.

Our D doesn't have to play extremely well vs. their anemic O & their D will not shut down our O at Kyle.

tu had a top flight defense last year & could not shut our O down at home, neither will a "Suh-less" Nebraska's.

OU is the home game I'm most concerned with, they'll be more balanced.

I'm a Longhorn grad and season ticket holder. I'd put them around #10 give or take a few spots. They can be very, very good if they establish a reliable running game and have some receivers, including a tight end threat, step up.

And we'll go to the NC if our offense continues to perform and we find a solid defense. Doesn't mean we deserve to be ranked yet.

Im sorry, but Florida would destroy TCU. TCU does not belong any where near the top 10. Any year. The BCS really has destroyed the rankings.

The recent track record under Mack Brown is part of the reason for the ranking. That's different from "Brand". You get the benefit of the doubt or "branding" AFTER you perform well for a period of time. You've got to also remember that UT is loaded with young talent.

Seems like no one can really name who should be ranked higher than Texas which might mean that Texas really should be ranked where it is.

Yep, it's preseason. At the same time, preseason polls (Coaches) are important since they can mean the difference between playing for the NC or not. Ask Auburn.

but at the end of the day, so much changes over the off season that NO ONE really knows how its all going to shake out. Players get hurt, suspended, don't pan out, and coaches do good/bad jobs of developing talent, gameplanning, etc.

At this point I could make an argument (albeit a bad one) that the Ags are going to win the MNC, and no one would have any way of proving me wrong- until next january.

Point being, and I've said this for years, is that the hardest thing to anticipate is the way a season will unfold. At some point, we've all got our maroon (or orange) glasses on, and surprise and disappointment have an advantage on us. It's time we started recognizing this a bit more.

That's a horrible analogy. The chances of the Ags winning the MNC is much less likely than the chances of the Horns finishing somewhere in the top 10.

Some predictions are more likely than others. Looking at this Texas team and the 2010 schedule, I see another 10 win season on the horizon. That's end of season top 10 ranking territory.

Alex Nguyen says that the tu defense will be better in 2010 after losing Thomas and Houston?? What about losing Kindle and Muckelroy?? I think the defense takes a step back and the offense takes a big step back!!

AlexNguyen
How long do you want to ignore this user?
The Texas secondary AND the linebacking corps will be BETTER even with the losses in personnel. D-line is the question mark.

Texas offense will be less pass heavy which might be a good thing if we actually get a semi-effective running game. The game plan at this point is to play more pro-sets and let Garrett Gilbert throw deep more than McCoy did off play action.
