Would that not be considered transitory? I mean, it will likely take that long to see stabilized pathways for many industries.

No. Administration is saying that it's transitory and would return to previous pricing. We're going to see rapid inflation for a while and then it'll most likely return to normal inflationary numbers, never returning to previous prices.

Well. To be fair, we never return to previous prices bc even inflation at 2% is still 1.11x 5 years later.

My gripe is that the word "transitory" when initially used was meant to imply brief, by the fact that Fed started with saying inflation would subside into summer 2021 to fall to middle of next year. They actually have no clue.

It didn't take a genius to look at real life and see simple examples like Chipotle raising prices 4% and then wages and then prices. Home prices shooting up 20% while rents lagged.

The only thing they'd say: "well look at lumber, it's way back down from $1000+". Yet completely ignoring that $550-$650 is still 20% higher than the previous 5 year average.

If your realtor doesn't have an informed take on inflation, you need a new realtor.

On that note, as the meme suggests, this is just the beginning of the inflation story. We are in for another 4 to 5 years of this, and it has the potential to do a lot of damage to our country. And people can stick their heads in the ground and try to pretend it's not real, but that's not going to stop it.
