The "Sea" of orange in the student section

I lost all respect for a big part of the 12th Man on Friday. If you were there, you know what I am talking about. The 3rd deck IN THE STUDENT SECTION was solid orange from the 25 yard line and south. When there are t-sips on the 2nd and 3rd decks on the east side at Kyle, it is an embarrassment to this fine university and everything the 12th Man represents. I don't care about the rest of the stadium, but our student section is sacred. I'm sorry, but if you are a student and you failed to pull a ticket for the tu game, you contributed to this embarrassment. In my opinion, students that failed to pull tickets and created this situation no longer deserve to be part of the 12th Man. I feel like every Bonfire that I built was p*ssed on, I feel like every Rev grave outside the Zone was walked on, and I feel like the legacy of E. King Gill has just been dishonored.

I have always been adamant about my support of preserving our student section. I have publicly supported higher ticket prices to subsidize loss of revenue by having a student section with ~25K tickets. However, my argument has now been weakened by the lack of pride of a certain number of our students. Our student allotment should now be reduced. I feel that students should no longer have 1st deck tickets. Let the Corps block be the only student tickets on the 1st deck, and turn the remainder over to the TMF. I NEVER WANT TO SEE BURNT ORANGE IN THE STUDENT SECTION AGAIN!

I am NOT calling out the students that were there and yelled for this team. I salute you and commend you. But I am calling out the students that didn't pull tickets "because we were going to get our asses kicked anyway." This group doesn't deserve to have the honor of being part of the 12th Man.

Blast me if you want, but seeing burnt orange where the 12th Man resides is a slap in the face to everything this university stands for.

They weren't just in the student section so don't start blaming the only the students were at fault for sips getting into Kyle Field.....and don't act surprised as if you didn't know it was going to happen....it was announced a week before the game that it would happen....

Good post. And it gives Byrne more ammunition to cut off more student tickets from the first deck (which, to increase revenues, needs to happen).

I would assume that the people on this board are not the ones that gave up their tickets.

I completely agree. The students had 4,000 tickets that went un-pulled for the game, and were then sold to the sips. Never happened in my day, I'll tell you that! It was shameful to look at across the field...I hated it.

corp block should be done away with altogether.

Hey, now, there were quite a few sips in the Zone section (and I'm not talking about 3rd deck) as well as the "alum" side.

I saw some sips in some primo seats on friday...don't tell us about not going to the game.

btw, more revenue was created for the athletic department since they essentially sold those tickets twice. Once to a sports pass holder and once to the sip sitting there.

Some of you are missing my point. I'm talking about the student section. A WHOLE PORTION OF IT, not just a seat here and there.

I have a feeling that 95% of the people who read your post actually went to the game

im sure there was twice as much orange on the 3 decks of the alumni side and the zone than there was in the student section. how about *****ing at your fellow alumni that sold their tickets to whorns too?

Don't go spouting off with this holier than thou crap because there was a ton of orange throughout the entire stadium. I would say that 70% of the top deck of the zone was orange.

And don't act surprised about it. It was annouced 7 days before the game that this was going to happen.

If you would check, you would find out that the tu ticket allotment is in the top portion of the Zone and by their band.

lame attitude!!! So maybe we should just encourage no students to come to the games so we can really cash in on our lack of support. Pathetic.

i would say 30-40 percent of the alumni section was orange, why arent you *****ing at them?

Not even close buddy. Chicken Ranch is right. It was pretty ****ing pathetic to see that. 1/3 of the 3rd deck was solid orange, not peppered throughout.

Hey don't ***** at us. Typically the people on this site are the ones that go to the games and yell their asses off. Write into the Batt or whatever but I think you are critizing the wrong studetns when you come to this site.

I understand where you are coming from. But I am talking about an entire part of the student section. Every other section that had orange in it was "peppered", outside of their ticket alltoment. Is the 12th Man's sections no longer sacred?

the amount of orange that was on the alumni side wouldnt fit on 1/3 of the third deck. but like aggies37 said, youre preaching to choir here. the people on this site are not the ones that skip a texas game. it just sucks that you call out the students when the alumni are guilty of the same thing.

dont blame the 12th man. us real aggies were there in full force. all these 10% kids coming in who could care less about football would rather stay at home with the family. its what happens when you stop admitting kids who really want to be here, for a couple of smart kids who wont ever give back to the school. good friend of mine is at blinn this year because he couldnt get in. he has to sit on the alumni side with his parents. thats one less aggie out there.

Our student allotment may just be too generous.

I agree burnt orange in an Aggie seat is bad regardless of where it is in the stadium. But taking a hit ($) on an Aggie seat for someone who doesn't really appreciate is just not smart financially.

Fans of other schools have always been peppered throughout the alumni sections of Kyle. They have NEVER sat on the student side with the exception of the South Endzone. I really wish I had a pic to show you, but it is the most pathetic thing I have never seen and I doubt their is one person here that saw it that will agree, even if you are a student. And yes, I will call out the students on this. I was one, am a former football player, and it's pathetic to see. I'd rather see the tickets pulled and seats vacant than see that **** again.

They're not alloted as much of the zone as they took up.

I'm pretty sure that in recent history, we have only given the minimum allotment of ~3000 tickets. There were a whole helluva lot more than that in the zone and near their band not to mention former student side.

Alright sparky. Let's think for half a freaking second. There was a block of sips in the students section because they were sold as a block. Just like the blocks on the first deck in the south end zone. It was how they were sold. If you combined the sips in each of the sections I'd bet money you could fill atleast one or two sections on each deck. Plenty of orange on the alumnis side.

Oh, and I'll say it again, when you boys sell out your seats for every game and actually fill them then you can start talking about how we need to take seats from the students. Until then just shut it. It gets old really quick.

This has also been said before, but most of the people posting on this site weren't students the last time we played this badly. It gets really old hearing criticism about how great you guys were when we were beating tu every year. It's real easy to be a good fan then. Exceptionally easy. Even fifth year seniors now have not seen A&M beat the sips in their time here. Not once. I can't believe that people wouldn't show up, but don't start throwing stones about how you had no fairweather fans when your whole freaking student career was a great time for Aggie football. It is idiotic.

Can you really blame them? Yes, we all love being Aggies. WE've had a very disappointing 3 years. And then this year, the last home game we were crushed by Iowa State....IOWA STATE! Then add in the fact that the Texas team coming in might have been the best team to come to Kyle in a LONG time. As my last home game as a student, I was in position to be the worst blowout in my history as a student. Lucky for us, it didn't happen. But eventually, no matter how resilient our spirit is, people get tired of seing us getting blown out. You are no more or less an Aggie than us in school now. Get off our backs. Again, if you're gonan b*tch, write in to the Batt. We here GO to the games.
