Are we raising money with each post or someting?

It's easy for people that don't have to account for the money we spend to say let's spend $150K+ (you know that costs have to have gone up since 2006) for something like this. The problem is that the original design was a poor one--the bird problem was not anticipated.

Why waste money on this project now when we are likely to do a significant reconfiguration of the pressbox that might result in this signage being removed? I think the prudent thing to do is wait for the press box renovations and then see if we can come up with something that will be bird proof, still have the same long distance visibility, and fit in with whatever we end up doing.

It should be a College of Engineering class project on lighting up the letters using alternative energy. It would be educational, environmentally responsible, and have minimal impact on budgets. We've got bright minds on campus - let's make good use of them.

No. Let's save energy in this era of high fuel prices and global warming.

(Just joking! If we can't have Bonfire, can't we at least use a little energy lighting the sign up just like the good old days? Even granola-enviro tu lights up its tower.)
