I always the thought the letters were a little tacky and out of place.
Like lighting up a certain church in Paris
"Cathedral of Notre Dame"
or hanging a lighted sign "Statue of Liberty"
Sometimes, less is more. I say just remove the letters altogether.

I miss seeing Kyle lit up at night. It was impressive
so the answer is no, they never got lit

Intentions are to have lighted letters on scoreboard (but it is unclear if they will be maroon or purple) and unlighted letters on East and West (due to bird's nests or bat's nests, it is unclear at this time.)

Same seats this year with two new sections next to me. It will be weird have people to the left but more people and more noise! 2015 is up in the air till that seat selection begins.
